Pet Loss & Anticipatory Bereavement Support

I have been honored to support pet parents whose animal loved ones are nearing end-of-life or who have recently passed since 2010. Initially focusing on families coping with a canine cancer diagnosis, my experience within a veterinary clinic setting and as a volunteer staff member of the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement has given me the opportunity to guide individuals through a variety of challenges.

Reiki & Acupressure for Animals

I have been a Reiki Master/Teacher since 2011 and have extensive experience providing Reiki treatments to both people and pets. I love having the opportunity to introduce the system of Reiki holistic healing to people unfamiliar with it and teaching those who want to use it for their own self-care or that of their animal loved ones. Reiki can be particularly helpful for animals with anxiety or trust issues and for general stress reduction and improved quality of life when dealing with a chronic health issue or at end of life.

Acupressure is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and uses gentle pressure and/or massage applied to specific acupoints on the body. Acupressure has a wide range of benefits for various physical and emotional issues, and is ideal for animals who are needle sensitive or have difficulty sitting still for an Acupuncture session with needles. I am Nationally Board Certified in Small Animal Acupressure through NBCAAM and trained with Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Resources.

I am a lifelong student of spirituality and holistic health with a BA Degree in World Religions and a Certificate in Holistic Care for Companion Animals. I am also certified in Canine Massage and have completed Continuing Education in Meditation, Flower Essences, TTouch, Aromatherapy, Western Herbal Therapy and Tui Na Massage. I bring all of this training to each of my patients to customize my approach and support them in a way that best fits their needs.

About Kerry

An experienced Pet Loss Support Facilitator, Reiki Master/Teacher, and Small Animal Acupressure Practitioner, I am committed to helping people and pets find healthy ways to cope with the stresses and challenges of life in order to become healthier and happier both physically and mentally.

My journey as a Pet Loss Support Facilitator and Reiki Practitioner began after experiencing the loss of my own heart dog, Georgia, to cancer in 2006 at only 5 years old. Georgia's year-long battle with cancer prompted a deep dive into holistic health and wellness for both people and pets that has become an ongoing passion. In 2021, after completing the Tallgrass Animal Acupressure training program, I became nationally board certified in Small Animal Acupressue through NBCAAM.

I am a strong advocate for self-care techniques such as Reiki and Mindfulness to help any individual improve their quality of life and physical and mental health. I especially enjoy helping those who are caregivers or who work in the veterinary field or human healthcare. Only by caring for our own wellbeing can we find the strength to keep helping others.

I feel especially privileged to be able to work with pet parents who are navigating chronic illness or end-of-life decisions with their pets and to support them after the loss of a beloved animal family member. My goal is to help them fully honor the bond they share and to find their way through grief toward healing. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to witness how even the most profound grief or traumatic loss can be survived and transformed into healing through the power of compassionate support and understanding.

I currently work in the veterinary field at a small animal practice and am a Certified Pet Loss Support Specialist through the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement. I served on the APLB's volunteer staff facilitating online pet loss chats for nearly 15 years. I am also a Certified Pet-Loss Grief Recovery Specialist through the American Academy of Grief Counseling. I am trained in Animal Hospice and Palliative care as well as Human-Animal Bond Certified through NAVTA.

While I'm located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin I enjoy working with people from around the country. I especially loves connecting with other pet parents who love their pets as much as I adore my two English Bulldog boys, Duncan & Bruno.
